Founded
in 1990, Mutual Housing Association of Southwestern
Connecticut, Inc. (MHA) is a nationally recognized 501(c)(3)
nonprofit housing and community development corporation based
in Fairfield County, Connecticut. MHA’s mission is to
create housing solutions that change lives, revitalize
neighborhoods, and improve the quality of life for low and
moderate-income people in Fairfield County. Over the
past decade, MHA has grown to become Fairfield County’s
leading non-profit provider of affordable housing and housing
services, with a portfolio of 250 completed units and over $40
million in new housing development and preservation activity
underway.
MHA
is a community-based organization with a Board of Directors comprised of
neighborhood residents, non-profit agencies, corporate leaders, and
public sector representatives. MHA’s diverse programs assist over
700 individuals and families each year to find affordable housing and
related services in Fairfield County. Beyond the development of new
housing, MHA's programs include homebuyer education and down payment
assistance, lending services for home repairs, property management and
resident services, and Connecticut’s first non-profit real estate
brokerage, MHA Realty.
MHA’s
programs serve Fairfield County – Connecticut’s “Gold Coast” – one of
the most expensive housing markets in the Country Since its founding, MHA has been a leader
in seeking out new and comprehensive solutions to the region’s most
enduring problems of affordable housing and urban revitalization.
MHA’s offices are located in Bridgeport, Norwalk and Stamford,
three of Connecticut’s largest cities.
