Our Mission
The mission of the Mutual
Housing Association of Southwestern
Connecticut, Inc. (MHA) is to create
affordable housing opportunities,
revitalize urban neighborhoods, and help
people achieve economic
self-sufficiency. MHA seeks to create a
continuum of housing opportunities for
all sectors of the community including
families, seniors and people with
special needs in Fairfield County.
Beyond housing, MHA seeks to provide
people with the skills to achieve
financial stability and the American
dream of homeownership through
education, financial assistance and
increasingly, foreclosure prevention
counseling.
MHA’s comprehensive
programs and services create affordable
housing solutions and improve the
quality of life for those most in need
in Fairfield County – one of the most
expensive housing markets in the
country.
MHASWCT’s programs are focused around 3
activities or business lines:

and credit counseling, down payment
assistance, and the services of MHA
Realty, a not for profit real
estate broker. MHA helps
homeowners stay in their homes with
low cost loans and technical
assistance for repairs or renovations,
and provides foreclosure prevention
counseling through clinics and
